Is It Worth It To Buy The Novatel MiFi 2372?

If you are considering buying the Novatel MiFi 2372, there are some things you might want to consider before making your purchase.

I did some research on the MiFi 2372 and here are some things I found out.

According to Amazon, the MiFi 2372 requires a SIM card with an activated data plan.  It operates virtually anwhere around the world with multiple frequency band operation, including HSPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS, all providing high speed mobile internet access.

It is compatible with AT&T, Bell, Rogers, Telus, Movistar, Telcel, etc., but not compatible with T-Mobile USA and CDMA/EVDO operators, including Verizon and Sprint.

You are able to connect with up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices and it includes an integrated high-capaciy microSDHC slot.  It provides expandable storage capacity of up to 16 GB.

Upon more research, I found some additional facts about the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372.  One is there is no Mac software on it. It does come loaded with the windows software, but some people have been experiencing problems with connecting it to the Mac.

A possible solution will be to check and see whether you have Windows 7 Pro Firewall activated.  If so, you need to disable it.  Once you do this, then setup your MiFi 2372 and reset your firewall.  Once you follow these steps, you may discover that the MiFi will start to work without any problems.  Sometimes, support may not know about this because they don't know about your computer system and how you have things setup.

MiFi 2372 Cool Idea!

Here is something else that I thought was cool that I also discovered during my research.  Some guy came up with this idea. If you have an iPod Touch, you may find that the MiFi 2372 to be much more functional than your iPod and here is why.  First, the MiFi is much smaller than your iPod and you can carry it around in your car or even in your pocket, etc.  The WiFi signal is good up to 30 feet and although downloads may vary, some have experienced downloads of 4.4 Megs and more even in rural areas.

What this means for you is that you could consider cancelling your cell phone, home internet, landline and keep your MiFi 2372 as well as the iPod Touch to use as your only phone; no more roaming charges.  The MiFi connects to the HSPA networks in 200 countries. All you need to do is change the SIM card and mapping when you connect to the MiFi.  By doing this, you can dramatically decrease your costs.  Just something to think about.

What People Are Saying:

Here is what one guy had to say about it: "The MiFi 2372 mobile access point from AT&T is excellent. I live in an area where I get marginal cell phone reception, but the MiFi 2372 gives me excellent Internet connection. It is ten times faster than satellite. Typical data speeds are 1500 kbps down and 200 kbps up."

Another guy had this to say, "My company pays for my ATT data plan. I have a USB card but decided to get a mifi 2372. It works great! 2372 supports the 850 mhz band (2352 doesn't) which is better for buildings/walls and ATT is investing a lot of money on... "

How Much Is It Going To Cost?

These are just a few things people had to say. Although, the Novatel Mifi 2372 has some issues, overall, I think, based on my research, that it is a good investment.  Not only this, you can get it at a discount price.  I did some searching and discovered that Amazon was one of the best places to buy the MiFi 2372.  For one, Amazon has a good reputation for overall good products and product deliveries.  Secondly, Amazon is discounting the price of the MiFi 2372 by over $200 which means a 55% decrease in price for you.  Not bad.
